Key Programs and Services:
KMS is committed to improving health outcomes through prevention, education, treatment, and care that's grounded in community values and holistic wellness.
Jordan’s Principle ensures that all KI children and youth have access to the health, social, and educational services they need—without delay. In Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug, Jordan’s Principle is delivered through several community-based programs that support the mental, emotional, physical, and cultural wellbeing of young people.
Programs under Jordan’s Principle:
Choose Life Program
The Choose Life Program offers culturally grounded support and activities for KI youth and community members. It focuses on suicide prevention and overall mental wellness through three key streams:
Safe House
The Safe House provides a secure, temporary home for youth experiencing homelessness, abuse, or crisis. It offers emergency shelter, counseling, life skills training, job preparation, access to healthcare, and connection to support services. Experienced staff work closely with youth to help them heal, rebuild, and work toward independence in a stable, nurturing environment.
Special Needs Program
This program supports children and youth in KI with special needs by ensuring they receive the care, resources, and tailored services necessary for their growth and development. Services may include assessments, learning supports, medical care, and other individualized resources.
Allied Services
The Allied Program provides children and youth in KI with access to professional counseling and therapy services to address mental health and emotional wellbeing. This support is vital in helping young people process trauma, develop coping skills, and build resilience.
