The Four Pillars Society

More information and Principles

The Four Pillars Society (FPS) is a not-for-profit organization responsible for investing and distributing the $2.8 billion settlement fund awarded to 325 Indigenous Band Class members through the Day Scholars class action settlement. FPS supports Indigenous communities by funding initiatives that strengthen language revitalization, cultural preservation, heritage protection, and community wellness. Through these investments, FPS helps communities build a stronger future rooted in cultural identity, healing, and self-determination.

The work of FPS is guided by four core principles that support vibrant, resilient Indigenous communities:

  • Language: Revitalizing and protecting Indigenous languages as the foundation of identity, culture, and connection across generations.
  • Culture: Preserving and strengthening Indigenous traditions, knowledge, customs, beliefs, and practices that define and enrich community life.
  • Heritage: Protecting and promoting cultural heritage, history, lands, waters, and traditional ways to maintain connections between past, present, and future generations.
  • Wellness: Supporting the health and well-being of Indigenous peoples through cultural practices, traditional knowledge, community connections, and relationships with the land.
